TITANIC DINNER - 100th ANNIVERSARY

Lovers of good food and fascination with the Titanic will have a chance to indulge their passions on Friday, April 13th and Saturday, April 14th as Café Bacchus hosts the Titanic Dinner in honor of Lucian Smith. Smith, a former resident at the High Street house that is now Café Bacchus, was on board the Titanic when the ship sank on April 14, 1912. Lucian Smith and Eloise Hughes Smith were returning from their honeymoon when they decided to sail the ill-fated voyage. Eloise survived and was carrying their son who she named after Lucian, the father that he never knew.

In addition, Café Bacchus will have a champagne toast to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic during the presentation from a WVU Fashion Design student who has been studying the fashion from that era.

Also, visit the Morgantown History Museum where they will have a Titanic exhibit featuring Bobbie Hawkins collection.

The dinner will be at 7 pm and reservations are required.

Café Bacchus will recreate portions of the last meal served on the Titanic. Originally, the dinner was a 10-course elaborate affair that took hours to consume. The menu and recipes are reflected in the book [Archibald, Rick (1997) The Last Dinner on the Titanic. Madison Press Books, Toronto. 144 pages] which also gives a charming reflection of life during the Edwardian era.

This much anticipated dinner event is one of Bacchus’ favorites to create as well as one of our most popular. Mark your calendars and make reservations as this dinner event will fill up fast. Call (304) 296-9234.
